The Computer Dilemma
so right now my old computer is in quite the predicament, so far i am dual boxing windows XP Service pack 3 and Ubuntu Linux 8.04, why am i running windows, im sick of having to rig everything to work in Linux that i use. Sure i run Wine and Cedega but you know what those programs only do so much. but in all reality my computer is just freaking old, it was first built in early 2001 with some parts that might be even older. Really i think my computer is tellign me its time to let me die and get a new one. so far i am still debating build a new machine that would last me a while for $950ish or to buy an iMac that would run me $1800 - $2200. i do take into consideration i wouldnt be paying for most of the software if i built a new pc since i have most of it already so my $950 computer would in reality cost me more so around $1200-$1300 with software. but my main beef is that is it really worth the near $1000 more for the mac? sure i wouldnt have retarded windows issues that are always bound to happen, i could pretty much for the most part just turn it on and expect it to work running unix and all. i just dont know though, im sure i would saveteh $1000 just in time and dealing with microsoft and its problematic operating system, I love linux but it is a pain in the butt to work with on a daily basis. im just torn and have no idea what i want to do. really im just glad i have my netbook and that it works fine for now, if it didnt i would be so screwed right now with school. well i need to save some cash for either the PC or the iMac so right now it is just wishful thinking. plus my internet at home still sucks, but then again after spending countless hours on the internet you kinda find that it is overrated and gets way boring after a while. but right now on the computer decision for just ease of use and problem free computing id buy a mac, for cost and nerd factor i'd totally build a PC.
